Rare Types Of Dermatitis
Rare types of dermatitis include dermatitis Herpetiformis, Exfoliative dermatitis and autoimmune progesterone dermatitis (APD). Dermatitis herpetiformis is a rare type of dermatitis, which is also referred as Duhring's dermatitis. It is a very rare skin condition, which may occur to individuals of any age. However, this type of dermatitis is more prominent in adults and it is not contagious.
In the initial stage, itchy bumps, or minute watery bumps or pus bumps appear on the skin. Dermatitis herpetiformis mostly affects elbows, neck, knees, upper back and base of spine. Patients experience burning sensation and pus oozes from these bumps. This is one of those rare types of dermatitis in, which dermatitis appears as if it is localized to one part of skin, but it may scatter eventually.
Patients can control the spread of Dermatitis herpetiformis to other parts of the body, but this condition is incurable. Doctors recommend medical treatments and diet therapies to control this type of dermatitis.
Other Rare Types of Dermatitis
Exfoliative dermatitis is amongst the rare types of dermatitis, which if not treated properly may lead to death. In its first stage, the skin surface becomes dry and flaky. Later, dilation of the blood vessels occurs. Cause of this condition is due to skin disease, use of drugs and at times, it may become difficult to find the cause of Exfoliative dermatitis.
Exfoliative dermatitis also shows other symptoms such as intense pruritis, inflammation of skin and scaling. Thus, individuals need to take prompt treatment, if they notice any of these symptoms on their skin.
Another rare type of dermatitis includes autoimmune progesterone dermatitis (APD), which affects women. This condition occurs ten days before, the menstrual cycle. The symptoms include heavy lesions on some part of the body or whole, worsening acne and water retention in body. These symptoms subside two days after the menses resolve. This type of dermatitis is controllable with proper medication.
