Oral Dermatitis

Perioral dermatitis is a type of acne that causes oral rashes and affects skin area near the mouth. This kind of dermatitis is different from other types. It is easy to identify this dermatitis because in this disease, there is presence of a clear area between the lips and rashes of the affected person.
 
This skin disorder may also form small red bumps, mild peeling of skin and pus bumps. All these symptoms are seen in an individual when the condition is severe. The causative factor for such dermatitis is due to application of powerful steroidal ointments and creams on face.

Peri oral dermatitis is more common in females in the age group of 15 to 40 years. The disease exhibits symptoms mainly around the mouth area and may not affect the lips. Other symptoms of this dermatitis include formation of small pustules or red papules.

Oral Dermatitis Treatment

Treatment for perioral oral dermatitis depends on how severe the case is. The very fist method in treatment of this dermatitis is to stop usage of steroidal creams and ointments. This helps in healing the affected area more quickly. Individuals need to cleanse their skin with soft soaps. Avoid scrubbing hard on affected areas.

Antibiotics may also serve the purpose of treating such dermatitis. Individuals need to consult a doctor before taking antibiotics as some antibiotics may have side effects on the skin. Acne treatments and facial scrub contribute to the reoccurrence of the disease. Hence, individuals need to avoid such treatments.

Usage of fluoridated toothpaste is another causative factor for this skin disorder. Individuals suffering with this skin disorder need to stop the usage of such toothpastes at least for six to seven months. Stop application of creams such as anti-wrinkle creams, lip-gloss, and sunscreens, since these worsen the condition of dermatitis

Peri oral dermatitis may take a long time to be completely treated. Individuals need to visit a dermatologist for any skin disorder instead of going for self-medication.
